Whatsapp Extending Support For Blackberry OS,Symbian Devices


WhatsApp will be extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017.


The world's biggest messaging app was due to cut support for BlackBerry and Nokia phones in December but this date has now been extended.

Earlier the chat messenger had said that it wants to focus efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, it will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:

Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, iPhone 3GS/iOS 6.

WhatsApp is changing its mind after announcing a range of smartphones would be blocked from the service at the end of this year.

WhatsApp originally said that it wanted to focus its efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use.

But in an update on their blog post WhatsApp is now stating: "We are extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017."
