India's Team Announced for T20

Young all-rounder Pawan Negi was the surprise pick for the World Twenty20 and Asia Cup,while the selectors also reposed faith in veterans such as Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh in the 15-member Indian squad.

Shami returns, Negi included for Asia Cup, World T20

India's 15-man squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 has been named along similar lines as the unit that contributed to a landmark 3-0 sweep of Australia and was named for three matches with Sri Lanka next week, the only changes being that Mohammed Shami was recalled at the expense of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Manish Pandey expectedly made way for Virat Kohli.

Ajinkya Rahane also found a place in the squad ahead of Pandey, who hit a match-winning century in the last ODI against Australia. Pandey got his break owing to an injury to Rahane and even though he made it count, the selectors opted to go with the more experienced player.

Sandeep Patil, the chairman of selectors, confirmed that the Bengal fast bowler had recovered and that there was not reserve fast bowler should Shami suffer a recurrence."This is the best combination of 15 we can think of," chairman said in a press conference after the meeting.
